Electrical Technology
Electrical Technology focuses on the understanding and application of electrical and electronic principles. The subject focuses on three main areas of specialisation, namely:

Electrical (Power Systems): Electrical systems refer to applications of electricity where heavy current from mains supply is used in a number of applications.

Electronics: Electronics, as a specialisation in Electrical Technology, introduces the learner to analogue electronics utilising mainly light current applications.

Digital Electronics: A learner taking Digital Electronics will have a strong interest in computers, programmable ICs, Boolean algebra, microcontrollers, system control, processors and programming.

Application
Some career opportunities in the field of Electrical Technology include electrician, auto-electrician, electrical or electronic engineer, electrical draughts person, electronic mechanic, radio technician, cell phone technician, computer technician, mechatronics technician, audiovisual technician and renewable energy technician.
